75 Things To Know About Convention, Five Ways to Land a Job at Convention

The 75th NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo, June 25-28 in New Orleans, is approaching – but there’s still time to register. As we get ready for convention, NATA Now is looking back at convention history as well as what to know about NATA 2024.

NATA 2024  provides opportunities, including Career Center Live at the Morial Convention Center, Hall G, to help attendees navigate their job search.

Visit the online NATA Career Center at any time before, during or after NATA 2024, and visit the Career Center Live to make in-person career connections.

Here are five ways to use the Career Center Live and land a job at convention this year.

1. Post Your Résumé

Prior to convention, upload your résumé on the online NATA Career Center under “Manage Résumés.” Make sure to include a Career Center Live icon when you post your résumé online. The icon indicates to employers that you will be on-site during the convention and available for interviews.

2. Receive a Complimentary Résumé Review and Advice

All in-person NATA 2024 attendees receive a complimentary résumé review. Visit the Career Center Live desk for instructions on where to send your résumé. You can then schedule a 20-minute consultation with an experienced professional who can provide advice on how to improve your résumé and discuss your career goals.

3. Visit the NATA Headshot Lounge

Have your complimentary headshot taken – it makes the perfect addition to your online professional profile. An NATA photographer will be on-site for a limited time and photos will be taken on a first come, first served basis.

4. Prepare for a Possible Interview

A well-dressed candidate communicates readiness for the job. As you prepare for convention, be sure to pack professional attire along with your résumé and prepare to interview with potential employers on-site.

5. Meet New People at Social Events

NATA 2024 events, such as the NATA Happy Hour, district meetings, 75th NATA convention anniversary celebration, the Day Two Party, daily breaks and town halls, are advantageous avenues to network with fellow ATs and potential employers.

The NATA Happy Hour, from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. June 25 at the Morial Convention Center, is NATA 2024 attendees’ first chance to network after arriving in New Orleans. Pick up your convention badge at registration and kick off your convention experience by grabbing a complimentary drink (beer, wine, or nonalcoholic) at the NATA Happy Hour.

ATs of various settings will get to mingle with their peers in the collegiate, secondary school and emerging settings, as well as young professionals and students.

After the NATA Happy Hour, head to your district meeting at 6:30 p.m. to connect at a local level with district friends and receive important updates before heading out to enjoy the city.

Join us at Mardi Gras World for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of the NATA convention’s diamond anniversary from 7 to 9 p.m. June 26. All ages are welcome. Enjoy complimentary sodas and water, with snacks from food trucks and beer and wine available for purchase. Arrive fashionably late if you must, but don’t leave early – you won’t want to miss the grand finale!

The Day Two Party provides an unforgettable evening in the Big Easy from 7 to 9 p.m. June 27! At our exclusive venue, enjoy live entertainment, delicious savory and sweet foods, and an open bar with beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages – all included in your ticket cost. Toast your New Orleans adventure with friends, old and new, with an evening of music, dancing and lifelong memories! Tickets will be available for purchase during the convention registration process.

“The Day Two Party is a new social engagement opportunity to meet the growing needs of attendees wanting more social, networking and engagement opportunities,” said NATA Director of Meeting Management Lori Marker. “After enjoying the 75th convention celebration Wednesday night, the Day Two Party is the place to be Thursday night before hitting the town afterward.”

The daily breaks are a chance to reconnect with peers and recharge throughout NATA 2024. Be sure to keep an eye out for fun activities and surprises! Most of the breaks are 30 minutes long, allowing attendees to catch up with friends and make new ones.

NATA 2024 will also feature nine town halls. Town halls are a great way to connect with various committee leaders and peers. Attendees will receive updates about the committees’ projects and achievements as well as have the opportunity to network with ATs in their setting or who share their professional interests.
