This week At Your Own Risk, NATA’s public awareness campaign, will co-host two Facebook Live events aimed at educating the public on two important sports-related health issues: concussions and athlete mental health, and the ATs role in each. Designed to educate the public, these events provide easy ways for the AT to engage with their community and raise awareness on these important topics. We encourage ATs to follow At Your Own Risk and share these events with parents and community groups in their social network.
As society strives to remove the stigma related to mental health concerns, more emphasis is being placed on supporting the mental health of athletes. Join us as we discuss the unique pressures that student-athletes face and the collaborative approach that Oregon state associations and Redmond High School have taken to support their athletes. This event will occur on World Mental Health Day on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. CST.
On Thursday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. CST, we will host Concussions 101 and outline the basics that every parent should know about these brain injuries.
Follow At Your Own Risk for updates on these events and other advocacy opportunities and resources for the profession.
