NATA News Presents the New Integrated Student Convention Experience

The 76th NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo, set to take place June 24-27 in Orlando, is bringing an enhanced student experience like never before. With the retirement of the Athletic Training Student Seminar, this year’s programming is designed to provide athletic training students with a fully integrated convention experience that bridges the gap between education and real-world practice. Here are three key takeaways from the March/April NATA News article “Student Convention Experience Enhanced,” p. 20, that further explain this change and what make NATA 2025 an unmissable event for aspiring athletic trainers:

1. An Integrated Experience

NATA 2025 integrates students into the larger professional convention, giving them direct exposure to seasoned professionals, networking opportunities and a deeper understanding of the athletic training landscape. The NATA Student Leadership Committee Planning Subcommittee has worked to ensure students will gain invaluable insights into how different committees contribute to the profession.

2. Bridging the Gap Between Classroom and Practice

This year’s student programming theme, “Bridging the Gap Between the Classroom and Real-Life Experiences,” addresses one of the biggest challenges students face: applying theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. From the Student Town Hall keynote by NATA Hall of Fame member René Shingles, PhD, ATC, who will shed light on overcoming impostor syndrome, to panel discussions including “What the Book Doesn’t Teach You,” students will gain practical knowledge essential for success in their careers.

3. Hands-on Learning and Career Advancement

NATA 2025 offers interactive experiences designed to enhance students’ skills and career prospects. Highlights include:

  • Student Learning Lab: “Muscle Energy Techniques: A Functional Approach to Spinal Care,” a hands-on session presented by Ricker Adkins, DAT, LAT, ATC, an assistant professor at Thomas Jefferson University in Pennsylvania. (Preregistration is required.)
  • NATA Quiz Bowl: A Jeopardy-style competition that puts students’ knowledge to the test.
  • Student Career Roundtables: A chance to network with professionals from various athletic training settings, providing mentorship and career guidance.

With additional social events, leadership opportunities and networking experiences, students have the freedom to tailor their convention experience to meet their personal and professional goals. Whether you're looking to learn, connect or compete, NATA 2025 is the perfect place to kick-start your athletic training career.
