Programming Thursday, June 28, is packed with exciting and educational events. Be sure to make your way to Morial Convention Center, Hall E, to see today’s BOC-approved EBP programming, NATA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, General Session (including the Changing of the Guard) and the NATA 2018 Keynote Presentation sponsored by Cramer.
Today’s EBP programming, “Think Big: Emergency Action Planning on the Olympic Scale,” is from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. in Morial Convention Center, Hall E. This session, moderated by Michael Ferrara, PhD, ATC, of the University of New Hampshire, will examine the ins and outs of preparing medically for the Olympics, including:
- “Developing an Emergency Action Plan for the Olympic Games,” by Ron Courson, ATC, PT, CSCS, of the University of Georgia
- “The Epidemiology of Olympic and Paralympic Games Injuries and Illness: What You Need to Know,” by Bill Moreau, DC, DCABSP, CSCS, of the U.S. Olympic Committee
- “Preparing a Sports Medicine Team for the Olympic Games,” by Dr. Felipe Tadiello, of Universidade do Grande ABC in Sao Paulo, Brazil
After the EBP programming, the NATA 2018 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place from 2 to 3 p.m., in Morial Convention Center, Hall E. This year, NATA will induct seven athletic trainers into the Hall Fame. Kent Biggerstaff, ATC, LAT, Nancy C. Burke, MS, LAT, ATC, John L. Davis, MS, ATC, Martin M. Matney, MBA, LAT, ATC, Gary Reinholtz, AT Ret., René Revis Shingles, PhD, AT, ATC, and James L. Thornton, MA, LAT, ATC, CES, will be honored for their contributions to and achievements in the athletic training profession. NATA President Scott Sailor, EdD, ATC, will then take the stage at 3:15 p.m. for the NATA 2018 General Session/Annual Members Meeting. At this time, Sailor will pass the baton to Incoming NATA President Tory Lindley, MA, ATC. Lindley will present the State of the Association, highlighting the membership’s latest achievements and his goals for the future.
Lindley will then introduce the NATA 2018 Keynote Presentation sponsored by Cramer to the stage.
