Student Leadership Committee Holds NATM Video Contest

February 26, 2016 by Beth Sitzler

As part of National Athletic Training Month in March, the NATA Student Leadership Committee will once again hold its annual video contest.

Students will have the opportunity to promote the profession of athletic training by capturing the heart of the profession on film. This year, videos should be based on the 2016 NATM theme “A safer approach to work, life and sport.” The contest is open to any entry-level athletic training student. Late entries will not be eligible.

Contest Rules

Each participant or group may submit one entry. Video submissions should be emailed to NATA SLC at natscreps@gmail.com. In the body of the email, include a short explanation of the video, your name and the names of any other AT students involved in the video making process, your school and your district. Entries will be accepted through March 3 (midnight CST). All submissions must be original work of the student(s).

All video entries need to reflect athletic training in a positive light – remember the idea of the contest is to promote the field! Videos that don’t follow the criteria listed will not be added to the list of videos for public viewing on www.facebook.com, and by extension will not be eligible to be a part of the contest. All eligible videos will be posted on the NATA SLC Facebook page on March 4 with the title “NATA SLC Video Contest 2016: School Name.”

Winners

During National Athletic Training Month, all eligible videos can be viewed on the NATA SLC Facebook page. The top 10 most “liked” entries by 6 p.m. (CST) March 31 will be voted on by the members of the NATSC Outreach Sub-committee to determine the top five video submissions. A vote by the full committee will then decide the first-, second- and third-place winners. First-, second- and third-place winners will be notified via email by April 14 and recognized at the Student Social in the Cramer Lounge during the NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo June 22-25 in Baltimore.

Video Criteria

Videos must be a minimum of three minutes, original work by entry-level athletic training student(s), and positively promote the profession of athletic training using correct information and terminology. This year’s videos should be based off the theme “A safer approach to work, life and sport.” The video will be judged on the following rubric: (1) message clarity and relevance, (2) adherence to this year’s theme, (3) creativity, (4) factual content, (5) videography and audio style and (6) organization.
