NATA’s NPI contest ‘Are You Being Counted’ is finished, and we are excited to report an additional 1,727 athletic trainers now have NPIs. Congratulations to District Four for winning the “Largest percentage of members with NPIs” category and District Three for taking the “Highest percentage increase in members with NPIs” title. We detailed the full district breakdown in a previous blog post.
Having your NPI may seem unnecessary if you work in a setting where billing and electronic transactions are uncommon. Having your NPI in all settings is incredibly valuable though. There are a great number of individuals dedicating time and effort toward raising the level of credibility of athletic training as a health care profession. When students and certified athletic trainers register, our lobbyists can then present NPI data to legislators and other high-ranking decision makers. Investing a few moments to sign up reaches far beyond having an identification number, it assists in helping us gain acknowledgement in the health care community.
Congratulations to all our prize winners!
