The athletic trainer is ceaselessly prepared to quickly address the needs of their athletes as they occur in various venues. This adaptive skill is in high demand in the emerging field of the “industrial athlete.” In addition, the combination of the complementary skill sets of ATs and Occupational Health Nurses can prove to be mutually beneficial to all involved. Such a synergistic relationship is truly showcased in the prevention of injuries and illnesses, advocation of compliance, and especially in the collaboration on patient case management. This session will highlight the value and rewards of ATs working alongside Occ Health Nurses within the industrial setting and more thoroughly discuss the importance of identifying risk factors as well as effectively following local, state, and national guidelines in regards to documentation and reporting.
