Attendees can earn up to 2.0 Category A CEU credits by participating in the 2021 Virtual NATA Education Researchers Series. In order to earn CEU credit, you must attend the CEU worthy sessions in their entirety and complete the session assessment. Partial credit will not be awarded for sessions not attended in their entirety or without a completed assessment.
Cancellation Policy
Attendees can access sessions (earning up to 2.0 Category A CEU credits) and participate in the ERS Series on-demand at their convenience for a full 30 days; therefore, NATA will not provide refunds for this event.

Transforming Manuscript to Publication: Tips for Success

Description of Session
The purpose of this session is to provide researchers with skills to evaluate and develop educational research manuscripts that may lead to future dissemination. Examples of past submissions to the ATEJ will be discussed to evaluate common submission errors. The session will also incorporate educational strategies and tips for analyzing the effectiveness of material intended for future publication.
Dr. David Berry, representing the NATA Athletic Training Education Journal (ATEJ), will be providing a 60 minute presentation regarding the following two topics based on the Boyer Model: Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Dr. Berry is the Editor-in-Chief of the ATEJ.

Specific attention will be directed towards understanding how Boyer’s model of scholarship will support an individual’s contemporary expertise while also strategically contributing to a research agenda. For maximum benefit of this session, participants are strongly encouraged to review the preparatory presentation, while considering their “fit” within their current institutional structure while also considering next career goals.

Participants are strongly encouraged to attend Educational Research: Building My Research Plan Part 1 on April 8 or to view on-demand prior to attending Part 2 of this session on April 22. While not mandatory, participating in Part 1 will allow for maximum learning during Part 2.

Session Title
Overcoming Barriers to Doing Educational Research

Description of Session
This session will include a short presentation by Dr. Mansell on Common Barriers to Educational Research. Topics will include finding collaboration partners both within and outside of the institution, how to conduct research without funding while also identifying possible funding sources, how to navigate requirements of institutional review boards, and how to get students involved in research.

After the presentation attendees may divide into breakout groups. If there is a sufficient number of attendees, there will be two groups. One group for attendees associated with research intensive institutions (R-1) and one group for non-research-intensive institutions. Dr. Mansell will facilitate the break out for the R-1 group and Dr. Downey will facilitate the non-R-1 group.
