In honor of National Volunteer Month in April, NATA would like to thank all of its volunteers for their hard work, dedication and impact. Without them, we couldn’t do what we do.
In 2022, more than 1,340 members volunteered with NATA. From serving on a committee to reviewing potential convention programming submission, every volunteer’s efforts contributed to the success of NATA and assisted in meeting the needs of the membership.
Any member can volunteer with NATA, no matter their skill set, interests or time availability. Volunteering falls under four categories:
- Short-term volunteer commitments: This includes activities such as volunteering at the NATA convention; participating in the EDAC Service Project; reviewing NATA convention program submissions; and participating in short-term presidentially appointed positions, such as attending a one-time meeting on behalf of the association (one- to five-day time commitment).
- Task forces, work groups and NATA liaisons: These opportunities are a great way to provide your expertise and insight during a shorter period of time (one- to two-year time commitment).
- Committees, councils and commissions: NATA has more than 20 committees, councils and commissions, all of which work to help NATA achieve its mission and goals as well as ensure members have the resources and tools they need to succeed in their careers (two- to five-year time commitment).
- Board leadership and chief elected officer (NATA president) (up to five-year time commitment)
In 2022, the pathways for serving at the national level became even more streamlined. Through the NATA Volunteer Portal, found on Gather, all members have access to every NATA-related volunteer opportunity and can apply for as many as they would like, all in one location. This includes committee, task force, liaison and presidentially appointed positions (note: District Secretaries Committee, board leadership and chief elected officer positions are elected positions).
