Visit the online NATA Career Center at any time before, during or after NATA 2024, then stop by the Career Center Live to make in-person career connections.

Also, candidates will have the chance to browse job boards. The job postings are associated with employers attending convention and looking to interview candidates on-site.

Here are some opportunities and tips to get the most out of your Career Center Live experience and land a job at convention this year.

POST YOUR RÉSUMÉ

Prior to convention, upload your résumé on the online NATA Career Center under “Manage Résumés.” Make sure to include a Career Center Live icon when you post your résumé online. The icon indicates to employers that you will be on-site during the convention and available for interviews.

RECEIVE FREE RÉSUMÉ REVIEW AND ADVICE

All in-person NATA 2024 attendees receive a complimentary résumé review. Visit the Career Center Live desk for instructions on where to send your résumé. You can then schedule a 20-minute consultation with an experienced professional who can provide advice on how to improve your résumé and discuss your career goals.

VISIT THE NATA HEADSHOT LOUNGE

Have your complimentary headshot taken – it makes the perfect addition to your online professional profile. An NATA photographer will be on-site in the Headshot Lounge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 26-27 and photos will be taken on a first come, first served basis. All attendees can have their photo taken for free.

INTERVIEW WITTH POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS

One of the best things about the Career Center Live is the opportunity to interview right at convention. As you prepare to interview on-site, here are tips for making a good impression and landing the job:

  • Do your research: Spend some time reviewing employer websites, rereading the job description and researching the line of business the position you applied to falls within. Knowing what is going on in the industry and having a general understanding will help you feel more confident.
  • No one knows you better than you: Take some time before your interview to reflect on your career. What are you most proud of? What do you want to keep working on? What makes you uniquely prepared for this role? Highlight your successes and communicate the impact you have made in past roles.
  • Practice your answers: Take time to research commonly asked interview questions and practice responding; it will help you feel more prepared. Keep your answers short and focused. When possible, use specific examples and quantify your results. Ask someone to listen to your answers and provide feedback or record yourself and listen for areas to improve. Repeat until you feel comfortable and confident.
  • Planning and preparation are key: Remember, you are the focus of the interview; don’t forget to bring any materials requested by the hiring manager and plan to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early.
  • Be attentive: You will want to listen to each question carefully and give your undivided attention to the interviewer. When answering, maintain eye contact and remain engaged.
  • Ask questions: The best leaders are constant learners. Be inquisitive and remember, you are learning about them as they are learning about you. Don’t be afraid to interview them, too.
  • Follow up: Send a “thank you” note via email, mail or phone to anyone you speak with during the interview process. You can also use this opportunity to reiterate your experience and enthusiasm for the role. Be sure to ask about next steps if it isn’t covered in the interview.

WEAR YOUR RIBBONS

If you are an employer, make it easy to be spotted in the crowd by wearing a “Now Hiring” ribbon, found in the Ribbon Bar in the registration area, MCC, Hall G, on your badge. The Career Center Live will also have “Job Seeker” ribbons for the candidates.
