In January 2019, the NATA Board of Directors approved the addition of an at-large member to the Professional Education Committee. The new member should be a recognized leader as a practicing clinician and preceptor; and will have the primary objective of overseeing past, current, and future efforts to offer resources to the membership aimed at optimizing the clinical education process.
Candidates interested in the position should meet or exceed the following requirements:
-Current certified membership in the National Athletic Trainers’ Association
-Service as a preceptor for a CAATE accredited institution for a minimum of three (3) years
-Current BOC credential and NPI number
-Demonstrated evidence of being a quality preceptor, including (but not limited to):
- Proof of contribution to student learning (e.g., student program, student event organized by the preceptor, etc.)
- Student evaluations
- Program director/clinical education coordinator evaluations
- Letters from former students
- Preceptor’s peer recommendation with evidence (from a colleague in their setting)
- Supervisor evaluations that coincide with being a preceptor
-Their primary role (greater than 50% of their job description) must be involved in or related to clinical practice. This could be the direct delivery of patient care or administrative responsibilities directing or resulting from patient care.

Applications will be reviewed beginning March 25th. The candidate should anticipate starting conference calls in May and is expected to attend the Professional Education Committee meeting on June 24th in Las Vegas, NV at the NATA Clinical Symposia and AT Expo.
