– As part of the At Your Own Risk public awareness campaign, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association will be advocating on behalf of its 44,000 members at the upcoming National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) 2017 Convention & Expo, June 22 to 25, in Las Vegas.
NATA Public Relations Committee Chair Jamie Woodall, MPH, LAT, ATC, was selected by the PTA to serve as a panelist in an “Active Kids Do Better” workshop. She will speak on the importance of physical activity in youth, risk factors associated with sports, how to reduce risk, and the role of the athletic trainer. Woodall will be joined on the panel by Peaceful Playgrounds CEO Melinda Bossenmeyer, Girls on the Run vice president Heather Pressley and Florida PTA Legislative Chair Angie Gallo.
NATA will also be exhibiting during the PTA convention, thanks to the support of Nevada Athletic Trainers’ Association (NEVATA) President Mark D’Anza, and NEVATA members who volunteered to support NATA onsite. PTA leaders from around the country will have the opportunity to become more educated on the risks of sports and how athletic trainers provide a safer approach to work, life and sport.
