Mutual recognition with Canadians
On July 22, 2005, representative of the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA) signed a Mutual Recognition Arrangement with the Board of Certification – Athletic Training in Omaha, Nebraska. The mutual recognition allows for BOC certified athletic trainers and Canadian certified athletic therapists to take each others certification exams. This will open up opportunity for employment in both the United States and Canada for those who take and pass both exams. For Canadian Athletic Therapists, go to the BOC website for details on taking the NATA exam.
For NATA Certified Athletic Trainers, go to the CATA website for details on taking the CATA exam. (Click on “CATA signs a mutual recongnition with NATABOC” then click on “mutual recognition arrangement page.” This will lead you to the international membership application.)
Places, everyone. Places, please!

The first international tour of the Radio City Rockettes 2006 Christmas Spectacular was in Toronto, Canada. The Mutual Recognition Agreement between the Canadian Athletic Therapists’ Association and the Board of Certification offered a landmark collaborative effort between the NATA and the CATA to coordinate appropriate medical care for the troupe while performing in Toronto from November 14 through 31 December. The CATA and NATA International divisions worked together to provide onsite services at the Hummingbird Centre. Janice Holmes, of the CATA international Relations Committee and Andrea Preiur, CATA president coordinated the effort with assistance from Gene Elizabeth Verel, NATA International Committee Chair. Elaine Winslow-Redman, ATC is manager of the Rockettes Athletic Training and medical management at Radio City in New York city.
